In this study we consider numbers of accompaniments including main, chord, and bass for evolution. The evolution first evolves the theme melody
according to plenty adopted rules from musical theory. After that, the accompaniments are following evolved according to their rules and coordinate with the theme melody.
The main accompaniment considers the harmony with the main theme and also complement the scant rhythm;
The bass accompaniment provides a stable basso line which mostly consist of the chord notes and also provide the connection between sections;
The chord accompaniment finally harmonizes and makes up the rhythm of the theme melody and main accompaniment.
The evolutionary music composition is further being post-process by adopting musical form. The musical form will repeat some paragraph
by comparing the fitness value and help the composition to generate the hook to make the music memorable.
The musical genres are the preliminary element to differ distinct musical style. Different regions form their unique music genres from local customs, lifestyle, or ethnic history. These genres enrich music diversity and human sensation. In a more in-depth way, different composers also have their unique composing styles. Here we present different music from specific region or composers.
Chinese music:Chinese music is famous for the pentatonic scale (mainly use note Do, Re, Mi, Sol and La). To compose Chinese music, we adopt not only the rules from Chinese music to achieve the Chinese exoticism, but also adopt plenty essential rules from Western music to keep the music harmony.
Argentina Tango:The music of Argentina Tango has it unique tempo and rhythm. It is composed to be danced instead of only be listened. The evolutionary rules consider the rhythm between theme melody and accompaniment. In addition, we consider the common chord process of Argentina Tango to provide the standard of musical harmony.
Fusion of Flamenco and Argentina Tango:Flamenco and Argentine Tango are two genres derive from different regions and have their own unique styles; however, they also share some similarity and influence each other. In dancing, several Tango dancers are familiar with the Flamenco style and vice versa. These two styles have been combined as the FlamenTango and performed worldwide by two professional dancers Maria Serrano and Rimona Godoy. In this study we adopt the scale, chord, and harmony from Flamenco due to the distinctive minor color, and the rhythm, musical form, and melody progression from Argentine Tango owing to its characteristic musical structure to achieve the musical fusion.

In this study we use the information from music charts to determine the weights for fitness rules. We propose linear regression to obtain the 42 weights of fitness rules by adopting 33 music download numbers from Guns N' Roses. Through the music theory rules and the obtained weights, we can generate music without depending upon subjective personal experience.
Reference: Evolutionary Composition Using Music Theory and Charts.pdfJay Chou is one of the most famous singer and composer in Asia. In the past twelve years, he published one album and achieved at least a top-one song in the chart every year. He is also named as the most popular and significant male singer in the Greater China region. In this study, the composing is divided into two parts: first, we analyze Jay Chou's compositions and extract his composing habits by using sequential pattern mining among his 60 compositions. Sequential pattern mining helps us to figure out the common used patterns from Jay Chou and the patterns are further used as chromosome for composing; second, we choose one of Jay Chou's composition, preserve it musical structure and chord progression, and replace the phrases through evolution. As mentioned above, the chromosomes are consisted of the mining patterns. In other words, the new composition is the variation of the chosen music through replacing the phrases by Jay Chou's commonly used patterns.
The chosen music of Jay Chou: Orbit The evolutionary variation of Orbit Reference: Music Pattern Mining for Chromosome Representation in Evolutionary Composition.pdfAlthough the evolutionary composing has achieved some promising results, there is still a gap for complete and mature music compositions due to the integrated music usually consider more elements such as interlude, musical instruments configuration, tune variation, etc., and these elements are unsuitable for the fitness function. Therefore, in this project, we cooperative with some musicians by providing the evolutionary music fragment to help them to inspire for composing. The musicians then use these fragments or make some variety and add in their creative opinions to form a complete composition.
